Life at Hammes
OhioHealth is a nonprofit healthcare system in central Ohio with a network of 15 hospitals and more than 200 ambulatory sites. Hammes first began working with OhioHealth in 2012, providing owner's representation and project management services for the new Riverside Methodist Hospital. Since that time, Hammes has worked with OhioHealth on more than 30 projects totaling more than 2 million gross square feet, including the new OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital, which opened in 2023.
OhioHealth opened its Pickerington Medical Campus in 2015 with a 97,000-SF ambulatory care center and a 47,000-SF medical office building. Over time, OhioHealth observed that the community would benefit from additional services, particularly cancer care, trauma services, heart and vascular, and labor and delivery. OhioHealth set out to build a new hospital on 30 acres of undeveloped land on the northern side of the current Pickerington Medical Campus.
Hammes served as OhioHealth's owner's representative to manage the new 220,000-SF hospital project. The new Pickerington Methodist Hospital — OhioHealth's 15th hospital — opened to patients on December 6, 2023. It is the first OhioHealth hospital to offer smart room technology that streamlines communication between patients and staff.
The hospital includes 96 inpatient beds, six operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and a 12-bed ICU. Services include labor and delivery, trauma, surgery, primary care, heart and vascular care, imaging, lab, pharmacy, and rehabilitation. Within the hospital, there is a 15,000-SF cancer center with 16 exam rooms and 20-bay infusion bays for both oncology and neuro infusion needs.
